Gibson Wells quickly became a central Indiana artist active in the industry upon joining his father on stage as young teen. His dad, professional guitarist Jason Wells, not only influenced Gibson with technique, showmanship and performance but also exposed him to some of the world’s greatest musicians and songwriters. Artists such as Jimmy Hendrix, The Beatles, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Michael Kelsey and Gibson’s favorite, Radiohead. Gibson was like a musical sponge, taking in what he listened to and squeezing out something all his own. The creative uniqueness in his writing and studio prowess became very evident as he repeatedly won awards in the Shirley Martin Young Songwriters Scholarship Contest. Through his journey of musical self-discovery, Gibson became competent as a multi-instrumentalist, proficient in drumming, bass and guitars. This work is now featured on his original recordings of which he plays all the instruments. It is this gift combined with his technical skills for mic placement, tracking and mixing that make him one of the regions most desired studio engineers and session players.
